Antique French Travelling Trunk

An exceptional quality late-19th century travelling trunk in excellent, original condition. Made in Paris by Malle Vodable, a very small trunk manufacturer, known for pieces of extremely high quality. Original woven damier or checkerboard canvas, with remnants of old travel labels. Full brass hardware, including lock, four latches, corner brackets, rivets and handles. Original linen interior and two lift-out trays. Original lock and key both numbered 203.
An outstanding example, and the closest we’ve ever seen to an early Louis Vuitton, only without the label and the price tag!
