Swedish Gustavian Sofa

A exceptional late-18th century Swedish sofa, with carefully scraped patina to reveal its original colours of white with grey detail. Excellent original condition, with finely carved neoclassical (or Empire) style motifs, including lions, rosettes and palmettes. Newly reupholstered hessian covered seat, and sold with 8 cushions made from vintage Swedish rag rugs.
A beautiful relaxed, bohemian look. Big enough to use as a daybed.
This is an authentic, highly sought-after Swedish Gustavian period piece, not to be confused with the many generic pieces given a fresh coat of paint and passed off as “Gustavian”.
